It is my great pleasure to announce the holding of the 36th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Clinical Sports Medicine from Sunday, November 2 to Monday, November 3 (national holiday), 2025, at the International Conference Hall of Makuhari Messe convention center in Chiba Prefecture. Having been appointed as President of the Meeting, I am engaging myself in the preparations with a strong sense of responsibility.

While sports bring joy and a sense of accomplishment, athletes are constantly at risk of injury and disability. Sports medicine plays an important role in preventing and treating injuries and supporting athletes to perform at their best. In addition, sports help people meet health challenges specific to different life stages, including those of children, adults, elderly people and women. Therefore, initiatives to promote sports habits among the public are of great importance. Our Society brings together a wide range of professionals – including physicians, dentists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, nurses, athletic trainers, health exercise instructors and nutritionists - and students, who work together to address these challenges.

For the main theme of this year’s Meeting, we have chosen “Sports Medicine for Enhancing Life Performance.” We would like to extend the knowledge gained by supporting top athletes to the wider population, and explore ways in which individuals can maximize their abilities (“life performance”) in spite of facing issues related to aging, illness and disabilities or the effects of external challenges such as global warming.

In organizing the Meeting, we are collaborating with related academic societies and organizations, with the focus on creating opportunities for young researchers and practitioners and diverse professionals to actively participate. We hope that it will serve not only as a forum for presentations and acquiring new knowledge, but also as a valuable opportunity for networking and enhancing motivation.

We look forward to welcoming large numbers of participants.

Dr. Kazuyo Tsushita
